The SimuBOX_3e encoder box is designed to be a proper encoder interface for the PSUSB_28 interface or for the SimuCUBE. This box is designed to allow for three options for encoders such as Brake Bias, Traction Control, and Engine Mapping or any other combination of controls that would be better suited to a rotary style input. As well there is one Button input that is common accross all three encoders (press any encoder to initiate the button press). The straight design of the box allows for many mounting options, vertically or horizontally. The PSB_3e also allows for excellent Virtual Reality usage as it is easy to tactile index.

This encoder box will work as a direct USB system when used in conjunction with the PSUSB_28 or PSUSB_28lc. USB functionality is not needed when used with the SimuCUBE.

The SimuBOX_3e requires the purchase of a standard (non-crossover) Ethernet connection cable for use. We do not include the cable since we do not know the length that would be required for your mounting position. We do offer a 6 foot Category 6 Flat cable as an option. (PSW_CAT6)

Encoder Cap Style and Color Choice - starting at $0.00
With this option you will be able to change the color and style of each Encoder Cap used on the box with any of the following colors (White, Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, or Orange). Some style caps are additional cost.



Button Plate Printing - $20.00
With this option you will be able to add your own permanent labeling on the face plate. The label design can be anything you wish and the entire face of the button box can be used. We will work with you to determine the style of labeling to use.

Custom Housing Color - $15.00
This option allows you to choose a differnt color for the 3D printed housing for your box allowing coordination to your rig or your desire. We cannot accomodate exactly specified colors but will work with you to get a color that best matches what you want.

Custom options can be ordered on the purchase options page. After placing your order you will be contacted by us to work out the details of the custimization that you would like. You may also email us at simulation@penguinrc.com before or after placing your order to ask any questions regarding customization. If you are ordering multiple boxes and would like customation of each box you will need to order options for each box purchased.

Setting up PS_USB28 for Encoder Use:
To set ports 2, 3, & 4 for encoder use you need to open the PSUSB_28 using a T-8 Torx driver to remove the three screws holding the cover plate. Once done there is a 2 position DIP switch to the right of the RJ45 ports. Default setting of these switches is both OFF. The number of ports in decending order to use for encoders is determined by these switches. Turning switch 1 on will change Port 4 to encoder use, turning on switch 2 will change Ports 3 & 4, and turning on both switches (1 & 2) will chnage ports 2, 3 & 4. The PSUSB_28 will recognise button presses when in Encoder mode is enabled but will reject simultaneous button presses on paired encoder inputs.

SimuCUBE Software Set-up: (when used with the SimuCUBE)
In the SimuCUBE Configuration Tool enter the Analog and Button setup and select either the "Set X12 upper for encoder use" OR "Set X12 Lower for encoder use" checkbox.

Connection:
Connect the PSB_3e to the SimuCUBE via a non-crossover standard RJ45 Ethernet cable to the X12 location (upper or lower) that you set for encoder use inside the SimuCUBE Configuration Tool. When looking at the connectors this would be the vertical pair of RJ45 Inputs (on the left) toward the Servo Connections.
